In 2010, the Greater Parkersburg Convention and Visitor’s Bureau engaged Cool Blue to launch a new site promoting tourism in the Greater Parkersburg region, including events, accommodations, retailers, restaurants, recreation and other specialized information. In 2011, GPCVB once again turned to Cool Blue to implement a mobile strategy delivering improved access for travelers on the go.
The Goal:
Cool Blue leveraged the open source Drupal content management system used in the initial website build to create an effective and engaging mobile experience. Working closely with GPCVB, Cool Blue identified key information to be pulled from the full site, creating a clean, simple and easy-to-use mobile interface for GPCVB’s users. And, by sharing the same database, both sites are instantly updated with identical information, ensuring a consistent experience across each platform.
The Result:
The mobile GPCVB site is a robust, but clean, solution for travelers needing to find information quickly and easily, from retail and restaurant locations, to event details and accommodations information—all from their mobile device. The mobile site also gives the user the option to visit the main site, promoting greater exposure for the GPCVB’s full range of travel, lodging and recreational offerings.
